Hides email addresses and secret-shaped text (API keys, tokens, private keys) in replies, your prompts, command output, tool rows and questions as Claude Code draws them, as a solid bar or [hidden]. It changes the screen only, not the transcript or what Claude sees. It reads no files, makes no network calls and only stores whether masking is switched off.

Static review of the source at the pinned commit; not run. Registers ui.render hooks for AssistantMessage, UserMessage, CommandOutput, ToolUse, ToolResult, AskUserQuestion and InfoNotice, plus session.start, session.end and command.run (a /display-redaction on|off command). Runtime calls: $.env.get('COLORTERM') to pick bar colors, $.state.get/set for the disabled flag, $.command.register, $.ui.resolve, $.ui.log. Built-in regexes cover emails, sk-, gh*_ and github_pat_ tokens, Slack tokens, AKIA keys, JWT-like strings and PRIVATE KEY blocks; user-supplied extra_patterns are length-limited and rejected when they could backtrack heavily, and are matched over 1024-character windows. A fault in any hook falls back to masking the whole text rather than showing the original. No fetch, no process calls, no file access, no eval. The masking is display-only, as the manifest says, and is not a privacy control.
